The item account dropdowns showed "(Default … account)" on the blank
option even when the company hadn't configured a default — implying a
fallback that didn't exist. Now the blank option reads "(None)" unless a
matching company default is configured, in which case it keeps the
"(Default …)" label (the dropdown pre-selects the real account anyway).
"Has default" flags are computed in the shared dropdown-population helpers
so every render path (Create/Edit GET and invalid-POST) gets them.

Default accounts: companies can now set a default Revenue, COGS, and
Inventory account (Chart of Accounts -> "Default Accounts" card). Stored
on CompanyPreferences (3 nullable FKs + migration). Used as the fallback
when an item or invoice line leaves its account blank:
- Invoice lines fall back to the default Revenue account, then to 4000.
- New inventory/catalog items are pre-filled with the COGS/Inventory
defaults, so the value is stored on the item and both live posting and
the balance-recompute path stay consistent.
Blank defaults = unchanged behavior, so nothing changes until a company
opts in. Setting both COGS + Inventory enables perpetual-inventory COGS
posting (warned in the UI and help docs). Help KB + Settings article
updated.
Also moves the "Fix QB Import Signs" tool off the company Chart of
Accounts page (was CompanyAdmin-visible) to the SuperAdmin-only platform
Company Details page, operating on the target company.

Inventory vendor auto-select: match the dropdown off the Manufacturer
field (almost always populated and equal to the vendor for the shop's
distributors) instead of the AI's price-conditional vendorName, which was
only returned when a price was scraped. Centralizes the logic in a shared
inventory-vendor-match.js used by catalog lookup, AI lookup, label scan,
and manual entry; skips brands sold by multiple distributors (PPG, KP
Pigments) so those stay manual.
Account dropdowns filtered by sub-type now filter by parent AccountType,
so accounts a company classifies under a non-standard sub-type still
appear: Inventory account (Asset), AP account (Liability), pay-from/bank
and Bank Reconciliation pickers (Asset + Liability).
Deposit account is now a user-selectable dropdown on the Job and Quote
deposit modals (Asset + Liability accounts) instead of a silent auto-pick
of the first Checking/Cash account; falls back to the old behavior when
left blank, and validates the chosen account belongs to the company.

O6: inventory consumed on jobs posts DR COGS / CR Inventory, but neither recompute
engine reflected it — so reports understated COGS / overstated inventory and a
"Recalculate Balances" wiped the effect. The COGS posting fires only for JobUsage
and Waste transaction types, which are created only at the two COGS-posting sites,
so the consumption is exactly identifiable from InventoryTransaction:
- both posting sites now record consumption at the effective (weighted-average)
unit cost so TotalCost equals the COGS posted (the recompute reads TotalCost)
- LedgerService: new section (dated rows + prior balance) crediting Inventory /
debiting COGS from JobUsage/Waste rows on items with both accounts mapped
- FinancialReportService: Trial Balance + accrual P&L include consumption COGS
This reads existing transactions, so historical data is covered with no backfill.
The Balance Sheet inventory line is intentionally left alone — it does not track
inventory purchases either (periodic), so relieving it for consumption alone would
unbalance it; tracked as O9 (inventory capitalization policy).
O8: the write-off already creates a balanced posted JournalEntry (both engines read
it via their JE-line sections). The real defect was 4 "Status != WrittenOff" filters
in FinancialReportService that excluded pre-write-off payments from AR credits and
bank debits — leaving the paid portion dangling as open AR and understating the bank.
Removed those filters; AR now nets to zero for written-off invoices and the trial
balance balances. No backfill needed.
Adds a LedgerService regression test for inventory consumption. Build clean; 293
unit tests pass.

every Accounts lookup in a controller now carries an explicit CompanyId predicate,
matching the standing rule in CLAUDE.md ("every FindAsync/GetAllAsync must include

manufacturer color) used by both manual inventory creation and powder-label
scanning, so the two paths flag duplicates consistently. Surfaces a duplicate
warning in the Create/Edit forms via inventory-duplicate-check.js and the
catalog-lookup / label-scan flows. Callers pass tenant-restricted inventory;
the matcher re-checks CompanyId as defense in depth.

Specific gravity, coverage, and ~55% of cure specs aren't in the Columbia feed.
Rather than read 2,400 TDS PDFs up front, enrich a catalog item the first time
it's actually used:
- FetchTdsCureSpecsAsync now also extracts specific gravity from the TDS.
- New EnsureCatalogTdsSpecsAsync fills a catalog item's specific gravity (and
any missing cure temp/time) from its TDS, then derives theoretical coverage
(192.3 / (SG x mils)). No-op once specific gravity is known or when there's no
TDS; persists to the catalog so the work is done once and benefits everyone.
- Hooked into the catalog->inventory paths (CreateIncomingFromCatalog, the
custom-powder receive enrichment, and ReceivePowderFromCatalog) so a powder's
full specs land on both the catalog and the new inventory record. DashboardController
gains the AI lookup service for this.

Quotes now reflect the current catalog price instead of a tenant's stale
typed-in cost, without disturbing accounting.
- InventoryItem gains CatalogReferencePrice + CatalogPriceUpdatedAt: the
QUOTING price (current replacement cost), kept separate from UnitCost/
AverageCost (the cost basis that drives valuation/COGS).
- The catalog sync (PowderCatalogUpsertService.PropagateToLinkedInventoryAsync,
run at the end of every upsert) refreshes linked inventory items with the
catalog's current price and product data (description, cure, SDS/TDS, color
families, coverage, SG, transfer eff, requires-clear-coat). It NEVER touches
cost, quantity, notes, image, location, or stock levels, and never nulls a
tenant value with a catalog null. EF persists only actual changes.
- CatalogReferencePrice is also set at link time (catalog receive, incoming-
from-catalog, identity match on create) so a freshly added powder quotes at
the current price immediately.
- Pricing now uses CatalogReferencePrice ?? UnitCost: the quote/job powder
pickers and PricingCalculationService (in-stock usage and powder-to-order
billing). Falls back to UnitCost for non-catalog/manual powders, so nothing
regresses. One current price for the whole quantity — no on-hand/to-order
split. Per-coat snapshot still locks the price at quote creation.
Tests: propagation updates reference price + specs but not cost/qty/notes/
image, and skips a $0 catalog price. Full suite 276 green.

Three bugs fixed:
1. Wrong timing — inventory items with IsIncoming=true were auto-created during
quote save (in QuotePricingAssemblyService). Now deferred to quote approval so
inventory only reflects powders the shop is actually going to process.
2. Duplicate records — same powder on multiple items in one quote created multiple
inventory records. Now grouped by PowderCatalogItemId: one record per unique
catalog powder, all matching coats linked to the same record.
3. Wrong category — category resolution used first IsCoating=true by DisplayOrder,
which could land items in Cerakote or other unintended categories. Now prefers
CategoryCode==POWDER explicitly, with DisplayOrder fallback.
Changes:
- QuoteItemCoat: add PowderCatalogItemId int? — persists catalog reference at quote
save time so the approval path knows what to create
- QuotePricingAssemblyService.BuildQuoteItemCoatsAsync: store PowderCatalogItemId

LookupAsync builds SpecPageUrl from the ProductUrlTemplate via TryBuildDirectUrl.
If the template is stored without a scheme the link is scheme-less and browsers
treat it as relative, appending it to the app URL.
The scanned QR URL is always fully-qualified and always the correct product page
(it came from the manufacturer's bag), so use it unconditionally as SpecPageUrl
on the pattern-matched QR path instead of only when SpecPageUrl was null.

Added explicit CompanyId == companyId predicates to every tenant-scoped
query in 22 controllers so cross-tenant data leakage is impossible even
if EF Core global query filters are bypassed or misconfigured.
Also fixed ApplicationDbContext.IsPlatformAdmin to correctly return true
for SuperAdmins with no CompanyId claim (break-glass accounts) and when
no HTTP context is present (background services, unit tests), resolving
225 unit test failures that stemmed from the global filter blocking all
in-memory test data.
New MultiTenantIsolationTests class (8 tests) verifies the explicit
predicate layer independently of the global query filters.

AiLookup and ScanLabel were running separate catalog lookup + auto-contribute
code paths. Both now go through EnrichFromCatalogAsync so any future change
to catalog logic only needs to be made once.
- EnrichFromCatalogAsync: private helper that finds a matching PowderCatalogItem
by SKU + manufacturer, overwrites AI-inferred spec fields with catalog values
(catalog is authoritative), fills gaps for URL/price fields with ??=, and

Previously these enrichments only ran in the label scanner path (ScanLabel).
The AI Lookup button and AiAugmentFromUrl went through separate code that
returned raw LookupAsync / LookupByUrlAsync results with no TDS fallback
and no SDS/TDS URL propagation to the form.
- InventoryController.ApplyTdsCureFallbackAsync: new private helper that
checks whether cure temp or cure time is still null after the primary
lookup, and if a TDS URL was returned calls FetchTdsCureSpecsAsync to
fill the gap. Mutates the result in place so callers just return it.
- AiLookup: calls ApplyTdsCureFallbackAsync after LookupAsync succeeds.
- AiAugmentFromUrl: calls ApplyTdsCureFallbackAsync after LookupByUrlAsync.
- ScanLabel: replaced the inline TDS fallback block with a call to the
same helper (merges catalog TDS URL into aiResult first so the helper
sees the best available URL).
- _InventoryColorFamilyScripts.cshtml: added fillDocUrl() helper that fills
field-sdsurl / field-tdsurl inputs and shows their open-link buttons when
the AI lookup returns sdsUrl / tdsUrl. These fields existed in the form
but were never populated by the AI Lookup button.

After the main AI lookup and catalog search, if CureTemperatureF or
CureTimeMinutes is still null but a TDS URL was found, fetch that page
and ask Claude to extract just the cure schedule.
- IInventoryAiLookupService.FetchTdsCureSpecsAsync: new interface method
- InventoryAiLookupService.FetchTdsCureSpecsAsync: fetches the TDS URL via
the existing FetchPageAsync pipeline (JSON-LD + doc-link extraction, HTML
stripping). If the page is a PDF or unreachable, returns Success=false
silently so no error surfaces in the UI. Otherwise sends a small targeted
prompt that asks only for cureTemperatureF and cureTimeMinutes and uses
MaxTokens=256 so the call is fast and cheap.
- InventoryController.ScanLabel: after catalog lookup, computes the resolved
cure values (catalog preferred over AI result). If either is null and a
TDS URL exists, calls FetchTdsCureSpecsAsync and merges any newly found
values back into aiResult before building the JSON response.

When a scanned label matches an item already in the tenant's inventory,
the scanner now opens an inline modal asking the user to add stock to the
existing item rather than navigating away or creating a duplicate.
- InventoryController.AddStock: new POST endpoint that creates a Purchase
transaction, updates QuantityOnHand, and optionally updates UnitCost /
LastPurchasePrice when a new cost is provided. Returns new balance as JSON.
- InventoryController.ScanLabel: extends the duplicate-detection response
to include existingQuantityOnHand and existingUnitOfMeasure so the modal
can display current stock level.
- _LabelScanModal.cshtml: adds #addStockModal with quantity (+ UOM label),
optional unit cost (pre-filled from scan), optional notes, Add Stock CTA,
and an escape hatch to create a new entry instead.
- inventory-label-scan.js: when scan returns existingInventoryId the JS
opens addStockModal instead of a warning banner. Submitting POSTs to
/Inventory/AddStock and shows the updated balance in a success bar with
a link to the item. The 'new entry instead' path hides the modal and
pre-fills the create form with a softer duplicate warning.

After resolving manufacturer + SKU from the scan, ScanLabel now queries the
tenant's InventoryItems: first by ManufacturerPartNumber exact match (most
precise), then by ColorName + Manufacturer fuzzy match as fallback.
If a match is found, the response includes existingInventoryId and
existingInventoryName. The JS fillFromScan() shows a warning banner with a
direct link to the existing item instead of the normal success message. Form
fields are still pre-filled so the user can proceed to add a new entry (e.g.
a different lot or bag size) if that was the intent.

QR scanning:
- Run BarcodeDetector and jsQR in parallel — jsQR starts after JSQR_DELAY_MS
(1.5 s) so both decode simultaneously. BarcodeDetector silently returns empty
arrays for some QR variants; running jsQR in parallel via a separate rAF loop
(rafId2) and its own off-screen canvas catches those cases. First decoder to
find anything calls handleQrResult and sets qrFound = true; the other stops.
Price extraction (two bugs):
- ScanLabel: unitPrice was catalogMatch?.UnitPrice ?? 0m, ignoring aiResult
.UnitCostPerLb entirely when no catalog match — changed to fall through to AI result
- AppendOffer: only read JSON-LD "price" field; Shopify AggregateOffer uses
"lowPrice" instead — now checked as fallback so Prismatic Powders prices are found
Camera pre-warm:
- Reverted localStorage approach (caused getUserMedia to fire on every page load,
showing Chrome's "Ask" prompt immediately before user clicked anything)
- Restored Permissions API gate: preWarmCamera only calls getUserMedia when
navigator.permissions.query returns 'granted', never risks a page-load prompt

LookupAsync using the extracted manufacturer + color/SKU to fill SDS/TDS URLs,
product page, image, description, and any specs not printed on the bag;
label values (cure schedule, SKU) remain authoritative and are never overwritten
- SDS/TDS URL extraction: added ExtractDocumentLinks() that scans anchor tags in
raw HTML before tag-stripping, injects found URLs as [Structured Data] lines so
Claude can read and echo them back in the JSON response; previously all hrefs
were lost with the HTML stripping
- Added SdsUrl/TdsUrl to InventoryAiLookupResult, Claude system prompt JSON schema,
LookupAsync mapping, and ScanLabel response (catalog match ?? aiResult fallback)
- SDS/TDS now also stored on auto-contributed catalog entries
- jsQR inversionAttempts: 'dontInvert' → 'attemptBoth' for better QR detection
under varying label contrast and lighting conditions

- In-browser label scanner (_LabelScanModal): getUserMedia live camera feed,
jsQR auto-detects QR codes in rAF loop; "Scan Label Text" fallback sends
captured frame to Claude vision via /Inventory/ScanLabel
- ScanLabel endpoint handles both QR URL path (LookupByUrlAsync) and vision
path (ScanLabelAsync); auto-inserts unrecognized products as
IsUserContributed=true; returns wasInCatalog/addedToCatalog flags

Phase 3 — eliminated ApplicationDbContext from all non-exempt controllers,
routing all data access through IUnitOfWork. Added IPlainRepository<T> for
the four platform entities (Announcement, BannedIp, DashboardTip, ReleaseNote)
that intentionally don't extend BaseEntity and therefore can't use the
constrained IRepository<T>. Added permanent-exception comments to the 18
controllers that legitimately retain direct DbContext access (Identity infra,
cross-tenant platform ops, bulk streaming exports).
Phase 4 — added EnforceDataAccessArchitecture() to Program.cs, a startup
gate that reflects over every Controller subclass and throws at boot if any
non-exempt controller injects ApplicationDbContext. The app cannot start with
a violation.
